Google PageRank update and other recent news

So it seems that Google is undergoing a PageRank update. Whoopdee! Many recent articles have pointed out that PageRank is really just what Google wants you to think it feels about a site. I am getting more and more disillusioned by the whole PageRank "show."

Many link brokers have established entire business models based on selling high PageRank sites. I once again must caution: DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE! PageRank is ok as a gauge of potential value of the link, but two far more important factors are relevancy and traffic. Will this site get traffic to yours? Is the site relevant? Is it just a directory aiming to “work” the search engine linking algorithms. These are the real questions you should ask your self when linking.

Don’t get over enthuses or depressed by PageRank or lack thereof. As I have said in the past…link using relevance and you will not go wrong. There are some good discussions regarding this topic as well as the difference between link “models” and “programs” at SEW forums.
